Modern DIY Kitchen Makeover | Indoor | Great Home Ideas

my peeps get so you know Adam the one golden rule of decorating indesign old say never make a decision on an empty stomach teller well said by a man I reckon though if you get the foundation right you can pretty much have any look you like like so for instance this place very cool cafe loving the pendant light gorgeous polished concrete floors beautiful timber chalkboards you love all of this in your local cafe you could take it home and with that in mind I have the perfect kitchen deserves a total rip out let's do it all right after your coffee then yes we're after the coffee here it is our tired old kitchen at the moment it feels more like a half kitchen plunked in the middle of the room and it's also really rundown I'll start yeah okay so we're gonna rip it out and rethink the entire space haha Oh like a good step that's what rip and strut I look when you said stroke so you don't mind the hole we've had to cut a hole in the wall to fix up the old electrical wiring obviously the power is being turned off yeah this is the part I love when it's quiet it's clear we can see what we're dealing with yeah these three doors major problem in this space well they are especially you know private bedrooms and then the bathroom as well so the solution is to throw up its free quarter wall that'll create privacy and provide room for extra storage we'll also move the appliances then do something we've never done before with the new kitchen in we're gonna change the cupboard doors to create three different looks modern country urban cafe and seduction red but to make it a reality we need to go shopping doesn't pop one big trolley this looks on rossbach Tower yeah this is good nice 100 wide perfect okay so remember only a cabinet fronts and end panels will change for all three of our looks the splashback appliances and bench top will stay the same well what have you found I've got a bit of seductions huh I like the tide of your life oh sorry do you think though we need a matte white what oh the antique white yeah see that's a nice one yeah then we've got that cafe look as well we want to go for that grainy timber one we've got some good press well I got one well I don't want to but that one's good okay we're set white red and wood grain ah bench tops I reckon this one more soothing concrete look the Taro's after nice you're yeah it's my workout for the day oh you do well it's gonna be a fair few flat backs to put together and I'm guessing you're nominating me for the job is a poster we build a wall out it's our gonna prove it not just some pennant lights you know something we saw in the cafe hello well I like that definitely no those perfect very industrial so yes this stud wall isn't running all the way to the ceiling so it's made my life easier and because of that I can build the frame on the floor using standard spacings I'm gonna clad one side of this wall while a snorts and steer you on the ground and the added bonus with that is I can use the square edges of a sheet to square up a front because I've decided to run the villaboard vertically but made sure that I space the studs to suit the shape you have left the back of this wall open so the spark is and plumbers can do their ruffed I better go patch this wall so I can get these cabinets ahead with a new wall in the kitchen starts to take shape this is a pretty average sized kitchen so just to give you a bit of a guide I'm using seven cabinets down below and four up top that includes the pantry leave see me build these things before they're not difficult you know what I like about the iy flat packs is you can save some money so you can afford to splurge a few dollars on other more important things later good maybe that way and while Tara finishes off the cabinets I'm fixing up that hope for the new powerpoints good as new once the cabinets and tools go on you're won't notice a thing with this kitchen the best place to start is in the corner with the pantry and once it's plumb and level the rest of the cabinet's will fit in like a jigsaw puzzle I almost forgot to get rid of this old flu that's where the free cheese gonna guide so easy this is already starting to look more like a kitchen and with these warr Han cabinets it's almost double the storage what used to be here yeah this is pretty ugly so to fix it up I'm going to be putting on an end panel and obviously you want to screw from the inside otherwise you'll end up with the same problem with screw heads exposed these benchtops they've got a real concrete look about but they're actually laminate but the concrete look and gray color and neutral enough to work in any kitchen with any cabinets they are going to do the cutout for the sink and I'm choosing masking tape so I can see where my marks are but also will stop the laminate from chipping drill a hole in each corner first that will give you a nice big target to work towards so you don't overshoot the mark now you can cut along the mark lines with a circular saw but because the blade is circular it won't cut all the way through to the end so finish off with a jigsaw or handsaw ha look at that perfect every time ahead we finish off the bench top beautiful and there's a splash back surprise in store okay move along move along my turn now that he's all yours enjoy so I'm going on with a stone splashback that'll make a real statement but the color I've chosen will complement all three of our kitchen looks these tumbled stone tiles are sold actually as border tiles but I think the overall look will be pretty amazing looks a little like stacked stone great natural texture so amazingly easy to put on very impressed and to protect it against the rough kitchen environment I'll give it plenty of sealer you can see that the spark is been in so I'm ready to put the plaster board up also it's a good tip to mark where the studs are so you know where to nail off the sheets I've decided to put bakbox up here because we're putting in lights along the hallway which were brought in the whole place up I'm gonna be making holes for them well I cut the sheet to sors now on the other side of the wall I didn't have to finish it perfectly because the cabinets of tiles are gonna be covering everything on this side I'll be giving it three coats for a seamless finish also you might be wondering why I buy these blocks here it's because you don't want to nail into the stud where you put the glue because when the glue dries it sucks the sheathing and it will pop the nail head and with these blocks once it's dry you can take them off and you're only left with the little pinhole most cafes have a chalkboard menu and a chalkboard is really useful in a kitchen too regardless of the look you're going for now you can turn any wall or door at your place into a giant chalkboard all you need to do is apply two coats of this water-based chalkboard paint let it dry and it's ready for chalking and using masking tape will give you perfectly straight edges step-by-step we're making solid progress in our new kitchen and it's down to clever design and good choices for the basics we've also added new appliances because the old ones didn't fit the transformation of this kitchen has been pretty incredible by moving the fridge and the pantry from over in the hallway down to this end it actually draws your eye through and it feels much bigger in here by having the whole cooking section front and center I think feels like a grand kitchen there's also plenty of bench space on either side lots of room for food prep overall I think this is a much friendlier more relaxed use of space but we also wanted to do something we've never done before create three very different kitchen styles without changing the new layout the bench tops or the splashbacks all we're going to do is change the colors on cabinet doors and style accordingly the world's most popular kitchen color will it's white of course and for good reason it's classic its timeless and you really can't go wrong to style it up introduce some monochrome accessories the black really reinforces this gray and the white gives it balance add some Naturals like timber chopping boards some fresh flowers and some fresh fruit to really bring it to life but I did promise you three totally different looks and that's unbelievably easy to achieve just swap out the doors and the end panels with the seduction red instead of the right it looks like an entirely different kitchen now this is a million dollar look it's sleek its glossy and very sophisticated you don't want to over clutter this look keep it very clean we've introduced a few pops of black and charcoal and also Reds complement some lovely fresh green look number three this is fantastic it's not bad is it it's everything we spoke it out in the cafe we've got our pendant lights the look of polished concrete the rustic timber even the chalk ports but also adding in this wall is just allowed to see it's so much more read but his overhead covers the pantry but also the privacy that are created from the bedrooms to the bathroom it's I think it's perfect but remember the bones of all three kitchens are exactly the same the only thing that's changed are the doors and the styling so I guess it proves that if you do have a good foundation good bones you can pretty much build any look you like we've created three looks here this one would have to be my favorite though but you well do you love this look but I can't go fast at seduction ready you just like the name or dream which is your favorite look is it the white neutral modern kitchen maybe seduction red or my favorite urban cafe join the conversation right now and let us know

What a simple change between the colours! just change the door and draw fronts… and end panels… and edging…. and transition panels… and open wine storage… so glad we didn't have to rebuild the kitchen!

White is my favourite but i would add more timber to make it 50-50. The red is really professional and stylish. (If i had a mansion i would probably have red, but if i had a home in the countryside or outskirts i would have white.) In my opinion the cafe look seems a bit too dark and grey. But the kitchen is still amazing!

But they're using bar stools instead of counter height stools. No room for thighs. Measure your counter heights and if need be measure your thighs….if you don't mind sitting sideways while eating…no problem.
