DIY Closet Lighting I Home Improvement Tips

hey guys this is Daniel is 14 let's calm and today I'm going to put a little lighting into my parents closet now admittedly I spend a lot more time than I probably should have looking for a lighting there are so many options but I finally settled on an LED rope light not only does it cover a pretty wide area of space but LED lights actually conserve energy okay the lighting kids actually come with these little clips there's about six of them that actually will mount to whatever we need to and then we'll clip the rope into it and so we're going to do that very first that's are going to be our first step and I'm actually not going to screw these into the the trim molding on the other side here so it grabs on a little bit easier okay I've clipped the light into place and it looks great now I'm going to mount this to the sidewall so this can serve as the on and off switch to the closet light okay the way that I'm marking my holes here as I'm holding the screws into place with my fingers so they don't slide out of place I'm going to find a good spot right here on the wall and I'm just going to press the screw so they make a bit of an indention now with the help of a drill in a Dustbuster I'm going to drill the holes and at the same time suck up the drywall that that comes out so I don't make a mess in there closet putting drywall anchors into place I'm going to be driving my screws all right in cable management one of my best friends has been the the mounting cable tie basically what you do if I can get it in the light here is its it fastens just around about anything say you've slipped your cable through here and pulled it tight there's a little loop here that now you can once you snip off this end that you'll drive a screw into here and if you need to mount something to to the wall or something that it won't go anywhere okay I'm on the final step now and what I've done is I've run one of my mounting cable ties through a little loop here in this extension cord that I've run and clip off the end and so now I'm just going to mount that but excuse me to the wall plug in this plug here and it should work so I'm going to finish up and then we'll see what the outcome is as you can see that works pretty well a row plot was pretty easy wasn't really that hard at all so just keep that in mind if you need to add a little bit of lighting to any space around you just remember if I can you can if you can't just contact the experts ww 10 list com

While I appreciate your budget minded ingenuity, a light plugged into a plug strip which is plugged into an extension cord IN A CLOSET seems like a fire hazard waiting to happen. What about a rechargeable LED rope light instead?

ugly and unprofessional, do it right and to code. and for gods sake it's your parents house, take the time and install a proper light hard wired with a proper switch

Such a great video! Thanks. I'm actually trying to do this myself.

What kind of LED lights did you use? White, Incandescent, etc? And where did you get them?

Nice, thank you! It would be cool if the light turns on automatically when you open the wardrobe doors though

Why do you mount the strip upside down, now the wire hangs over it. #2 How many extension cords do you need for 1 rope light?  # My parents would slap me silly if I did this.  Also, doesn't the extension cord come out below the door now to get to an outlet?   I'm just saying!
