D.I.Y.: Turn Your Empty Candle Jars Into Useful Home Decor | The2Orchids

okay so today we have a DIY video for you we sure do and you know what this is going to be so simple most of you have well the main thing needed for this around your house somewhere as you all know we are candles fanatic yes we are fanatic so with all those old candles laying around those jars we've come up with a way you can repurpose those jars yes and make them useful yeah and really pretty and inexpensively and as so simple so we're gonna go ahead and just get started with this DIY as you can see I do have a candle there's a little bit left now I could've burned it a little bit more but instead I want to just use it for the DIY so what we're going to show you is I've got my sink filled with piping hot hot water we're going to place this in the sink the water will probably come up just about here for about like 10-15 minutes it's gonna melt the wax we're going to show you how easy it is to take that wax out and get a nice clean jar so basically all I need is hot water yep you're our news portion of your wax and I just have like a a plastic floor and I just use a paper plate because you know I'm all about easy peasy cleaning right you just plastic knife that is I'll just look that's a fancy paper you said plastic poured oh nice yes and a paper towel and then maybe a little bit of Windex or something like that so we're gonna head over to the sink we're gonna go ahead and submerge this in water we'll show you how that can be heated get the glass okay so that is soaking and melting the wax we're going to show you how quick and easy this DIY is I wanna talk about these you know okay so you don't have to spend a lot on knobs if you guys watch my vlog you'll know I always said t.j.maxx HomeGoods doing a little shopping they always have an abundance of furniture knobs there and soon as Karen and I thought of this video we're like bingo I knew where I was going I said they get all different kinds in it was under $10 the came in as a box of a set before it was either $7.99 or $9.99 and they're gorgeous you guys see how pretty sparkly they have a little pearl on the top of them but you can't let anything anything you like any color you know just pick whatever fits your theme oh these are just so pretty they're so prime you and I saw sparkle high that's perfect for what we like cuz nice girls like this sparkle that's right you know you want to make sure they have the flat bottom because these have the screws so we decided spray the screw and the flat bottom so let's show how easy this is Lauren alright you're got Earl it's okay and we've got our glue gun our glue gun I go again it's really best maybe I'm thinking I put it on here right yeah just a little bit of glue okay hardest part is gonna be just making sure it's centered mm-hmm X and that is all there is to it look at that simple and easy so we're gonna push this down let it dry the hard part is a heart so there you have it look at how pretty this looks I don't go the other one I'll let you do the honors of this one love it love it and then we're gonna fill these with all kinds of fun stuff and we're going to show you how pretty it is you can display it on your bathroom counter in your bedroom even in your kitchen all right Laura and you did it so pretty and from time to time uh look at how pretty this lid is I just love it oh it looks gorgeous yeah so you know some of the kid what was I saying from time to time sometimes the candles I noticed at Bath & Body in various places will have decorative lids yes so keep the lid that's because that just gives it a little bit extra little bling I agree I agree so you just want to give this some time to dry this one I think we need a little bit more glue okay this one's doing really well and out we're gonna show you how easy it is to go ahead and get the wax out of the glass you guys in a seed this was so simple probably took about ten to fifteen minutes to have the hot water actually melt that glue enough that we were able to slide it right now so you're gonna see how easy are you guys wasn't even ten minutes I'm Lauren can you believe it and I want to restock this plastic knife down in here you can see how cut it gets really really soft around the edges and then basically we're going to should slide here now the hardest part is really is just really cleaning this afterwards and that's why I use this paper plate that way I can clean already work right why do I keep calling it a floor and I keep saying right trust me this seems like the Tartar than it is I'm just trying to get because this is a tall jar the last drawer that I did was this this little one what's the sugars are not really easy right right but if the comic it's coming a little bugger these the other one was you know it'll might be better even if you use like that normal knife or a normal four right so it done I bend fork on the brain maybe in my hungry come on you see it's loose yes it's very loose you want me to grab a regular yes why don't you let this plastic and it's hard to get down in here but trust me when I said she is ready to roll thank you oh yeah there you go okay can see now there are ways I have heard you can actually put it in the oven I don't trust that this was so much faster yeah I mean just yeah so much faster 10 minutes in hot water and the sink I mean how easy is that we've seen I've got some one floor and then what we're gonna do at this point is just get a paper towel down in here and we're gonna clean it out and then Windex it maybe even run a little bit more hot water and this will thing will be ready to go we're gonna go ahead and glue the beautiful fancy there's that doorknob furniture not furniture or not and we're going to show you then how pretty it is to put these display and your bedroom bathroom or in your kitchen okay so as you can see look how cute this display is we've got our popcorn kernels we've got almonds and we have our bricks chocolate in the back so just a simple tray we put it on and just put this on the counter so this is basically a kitchen kind of a themed idea of how you can repurpose your candle jars in the kitchen yeah I love it and fine you know you can put rice in there the options are actually endless so just have fun play around with it exactly okay so this is just another way that you can repurpose the jars and take them into your bathroom we have some makeup sponges we have some dental picks for flossing and we have those little samples of perfume that you get at the department stores it's a perfect place to keep them all together yes we agree all right great I think looks really pretty it's just just makes it adds a little sparkle and bling but you little organization to your bathroom I love it now the obvious also is cotton balls q-tips cotton rounds even your bling smart it's not blood smart you do wonders yes some of those that work and we thought we'd add we love these because a little bit of color is also pretty and why not just just try to change it up a little bit that you can bring the jars into your home office you can place rubber bands like we did we've got post-it notes we've got paper clips binder clips yeah our binder clip yeah yeah I could use paper clips pens again options are endless they are oh my goodness I can just go to every room when happy sand everywhere keeps everything nice and organized and it looks beautiful too simple fun easy easy for sure our DVD is I mean just the hardest part was probably removing the way that wasn't really that hard no simple you know the idea is a more more Lauren and I were putting stuff together like the ideas are endless I know she brought up a good point Karen she says how about if you have a little girl all those hair ties that are laying around everywhere little bows and oh you know that look and yes so that would be a really nice way to display even now like my hair ties and yeah dog treats like for little different dogs that are barking at me yeah community partner to see her doggy treats and then so basically we were talking about as you saw on some of the footage that just pretty trendy cleaned up display um now Karen you said you picked this one up at tarjay Tarja yes yes yes from home good yes from home good right they're both very inexpensive think less than ten dollars right and AH they just really make it look even a little added touch so pretty when we had this on my kitchen counter I'm like I want to keep that yeah it does it fits um fits your theme in here very very well it really says I'll get a lot yeah simple and easy and I'm sure we could just keep going and going yes one of the things that you could put in but it's just so pretty and just love it yeah it's a lot my teeth came out so you know have fun with it if you guys have any ideas or if you do this DIY be sure to email us and show us your pictures yeah we would love to see him and if you have any cool ideas You can put the jars on a candle burner or put it in a pot and let it come to a boil and then pop it out

Thanks ladies….I also put my jars in the freezer overnight…..I can then pop it out….I also use pruning shears to cut the wax while cold and then remelt them on a little plug in warmer in little tealights….after melted I put in a wick while it is still liquid then let the wax set….I clean the jars with a little WD 40 on a paper towel and use them for so many things

I agree with other commenters – just freeze the jar and pop the wax out. Your way was just a long hidious mess. This could have been a 3 minute video. You guys babble way too much.

That didn't come out very clean.. better off putting the jar in a pan of hot water and melt it right down then pour it out n wipe the jar clean.

Hi Karen, you told us that you have migraine headaches. One day I was burning several candles and the strangest headache came over me. I thought about it for a few minutes and realized the only thing different that day was all the candles being lit! I quickly blew out the candles and went to bed! When I woke up I was feeling much better! You might try to not have so many candles burning at one time. Just thought I would mention it.

Its better if you put the hot watrr inside the jar because the wax go up and then you broke the piece and take out

I see others had the same thing in mind; partylite tip: remove almost gone' candle wax in the freezer for five minutes it would make it easier to remove. Great idea – I will try!
