Common DIY Problems And Fixes | Outdoor | Great Home Ideas

mmm that was nice I'll get that ladder have you got a list of jobs to do around your place you just keep putting off maybe you think they're too hard or you just don't want to get somebody in well good news is most of the time those jobs are very simple fixit's let's start with one right here in the kitchen oh nice I even wonder this water getting under there it's only wash up let's have a closer look oh yeah they'll be print haha lol oh look at that underneath every sink you'll find brackets the brackets actually pulled the sink down to the bench and there's a rubber seal underneath that seals and stops water going in in this case the brackets either work loose or was never put on properly to start with how to fix the problem you just want to clean out the gunk from under they don't always that's that fit then grabbed your screwdriver and tighten up the bracket if you don't have a bracket or the one you've got broken you can always pick up a spare II from the RV all right that was so easy it makes watching um lugar the old lurking tap you know the slow leak will use 18 litres of water a day in a fast leak 240 it's ridiculous so fixing something like this is very important it's gonna save your water and save you money so first step once you turn the water off is to disconnect that you can adjustable spanner to remove the spindle then reach into the tap pull out one tap water that's not the last of the washers you may need to change there's actually three washers and you stand and spindle there's that one out of the tap then there's this little red one comes off around the thread of the spindle then this is the tricky one a lot of people miss one this up like so boom there it is a little black one sitting near the o-ring that one needs to be prised off and replaced he's in the other place also your losses then put the cap back together the way you found well there you go there's another simple problem off the least busted 5:30 in the morning the last thing you want to do is wait the kids on the floorboard squeaking well there is a tip that could solve this problem almost instantly there's plenty of different reasons why floorboards may squeak one of them is that you've got two boards rubbing together causing the squeaking noise at the joint try this first grab some talcum powder run it down the joint and work that in with your boots listen to that problem solved it may solve your problem straight off the bat which is ideal if you're dealing with boards upstairs but what if there's another reason that your boards are squeaking well then you might need to go underneath down here is kind of like the engine room of your house you can see you got the ground which supports brick piers like these those in turn support timber bearers that support timber floor joists that support the timber floor and that's what's squeaking now the other one under here if you find the exact spot where the timber squeak is what you can do is actually put a new piece of timber or a new floor joist in basically all you're doing is getting a whole heap of glue along that piece of timber heaps of it then pressing that up against the underside of your floorboards in between to Joyce then a couple of screws temporarily to hold in place until the glue dries that glue will set hard so that each board is tied to the next by the glue and the squeaking stops well it's a pretty common problem have a look at it whew your gaps in the doors not quite lining up doesn't matter happen you or old your kitchen a little bit of maintenance on cupboard doors is always a good idea it's easy to do – just need a screwdriver open up you'll find two screws and this one will push the door this way or this way whereas this one will allow you to push it in or out that back ones generally not a problem but this one is the one you want to turn one at the bottom one at the top that is looking pretty good well there's the problem strike and pine the glass how much would it cost to get someone out if it's a tiny piece like this too much I reckon you can fix this yourself fairly easily be careful you want to wear gloves and glasses when you're working with gloves first up you just want to get rid of the putty of the toilet in the glass here might be a timber bead either way take it out with a chisel once you've got rid of the putty you can remove these little pins they were there holding the glass in place while the original putty was drawing then pop your glass out and a little bit of cardboard under the door or the area you're working is really going to help you with your cleaner once you've done that clean things up with your chisel and a wire brush to make sure the new pane of glass will slip in nicely there it is three mil window glass just get you guys here the color size four is you can put it in yourself all you will do is start with a bit of putty in the hole that gives you a backing for the glass to see the gates once the glass is in throwing your glazing pins then go over the top with your external putty use your thumb and ask robo to get it looking just right leave your putty to dry for a couple of days then paint it your doors as good as new shut the door uh-huh that could be a problem yeah why is it happening well there's a little strike up on the side of the door here that goes into the hole in this strike plate but does it know that could be for a couple reasons maybe the door jamb sunk on one side the house may have moved a little bit that can all happen but the fact is you need to fix it it's easier to do you just got to take that strike play it off chisel out a little bit of room above it I'm just filling the old screw holes with bamboo skewers that's gonna help me avoid any problems I might have with the new screw hole Ryder pretty fix it tidy up the hole that you've left at the bottom and paint it away you got let's just check it out with a few of the tips I've just given you hopefully you can shut the door on a few of those simple jobs around your place
