Building retaining wall in rain with John Deere 120

alright guys it's a Saturday morning and we are off to rocky boy I love working for this guy up here you just you just never know what – it's always it's always an adventure he's a lot of fun this is the job the super stick on it so hopefully we'll get some questions answered and see how she's gonna learn let's go find out alright guys I didn't do a very good job explaining this while I was doing it so I'm gonna do a little better job this way but basically I was so damn excited to be off this clearing job and be doing something different show up what's the first thing he wants me and do take out trees you gotta be kidding me so but that's alright there was only two trees it wasn't that bad but basically what I'm gonna point out here is what we're here to do you can kind of see there's a wall off there in the distance I'm pointing out that old we divided a couple years ago and basically he wants to continue that wall all around this Knoll back towards that boat dock there and we're gonna be using those cubes were pointing off to at the side but basically the first hour of the day was just getting these in these trees knocked down and then whenever I got the trees knocked down we were basically cutting them up into pieces now this part coming up here I did not edit this out and this is just kind of a reminder that you've got to be paying attention at all times and being safe this is probably as much my fault as it was Ralph's for put them in that position luckily nobody got hurt chainsaw end up not even laying in the water but guys you got to take your time pay attention and be safe you just never know so anyways after we got everything cut up I can't swing any farther here is I'm up against that guidewire rouse basically dragging this stuff off of this tractor so I out there a little too much up here for the old Kubota so I was help them get going once he gets going I'm not really for sure where he's going to with them but they were disappearing we're just trying to get our mess cleaned up so we could get to get started on the get started on the wall which was the goal of the day and then you'll see later we had some nasty nasty weather set in alright I'm kind of a one-man show now Ralph had to go work on some boat or something but first thing I got to do is get these blocks oh man I got fire lines over my hand freaking beige around here get these blocks shuffled over here a little bit closer to where I can reach them from the other side come on hook roll it around and lift her up we shall come out of there all right Ralph changed the plan on us a little bit he had us move the wall out by another six feet he's want to make sure he's got enough clearance to mow here pretty easy with the mower so I missed it again it was Ralph had a smooth the wall out here about another six feet he's worried about be able to get a lawnmower down around this edge here no big deal we only had two blocks set so basically what we're doing is however fall we can reach out here is how far we're gonna set these blocks out [Applause] all right Rob brought me the last block I'm going to attempt to risk my life at this point reach out there go go ahead I'll get it reach out there's floor of the can that's where I am pretty darn good I'll know if you guys see a few of those flashes the lights that's actually been lightning try to reach out there as far as I can get this last block set I think if I can get it set hmm I get it set I get the rest on the other side so I'll clean up my mess here and we'll move around but this is starting to get a little bit sketchy for even my comfort level it would be too worried about if it wasn't raining hopefully with the track hoe sitting it's still dry I guess and of course blocks the wrong way come on we're looking almost uses in their said eyes out there I'm trying to use the dog to keep this thing straight that's come on baby come on look at that roll into place there ya go nicely done now I'm so far out there I don't know if I get unhooked sorry I'm not talking them trying to concentrate not following the water here but come on I need like feather 310 – ch I ain't tracking forward I'm gonna get it perseverance will pay off kid me there you go didn't ever set eyes on this thing I have to reset about three or four blocks because my dog floated out and I was using it as my straightedge and it wasn't straight no more but I think we're back on the straight and narrow here now this is one of those sightseeing jobs I've got every bond there compared buying the dane county up here driving around trying to figure out what we're doing in the rain like a bunch of fools but alright I'm gonna get out of here and clean up my mess and we're going to move there to saw the shelter house [Applause] all right we're moving around to the other side and this first I got bitches like a guide lawyers his first vlog Scooby white a rich to get it we're good distance ed we're gonna be able to home stretch from here hopefully I got me a little road down here hopefully we don't end under the water all around there hey are you Brian instead of one of games all right we're going with Leslie we're gonna set a track up on this key in Region II [Applause] all right guys look guys watch your rank storm going on we just finished last long so you're going to get the inside not the outside but there is nicely come all the way down through here the last block got that quite as well not like far to drop I'll be back here tomorrow hoping the weather straight up I'll get a little better video my bad but we're gonna call it quits for the day with this weather it is Oh buddy that's coming down on a log huts Hill Pro setup and lightning you anyways tomorrow but we'll be super sick day didn't matter if it's raining or not that's gonna be money anyway so baby okay guys I hope you enjoyed that video if you did if you could just take a few seconds to hit that thumbs up button that'd be greatly appreciated and if you want to make sure you don't miss that on the next great adventure or the next project on dirt perfect hit that subscribe [Applause]

Liked the vid… also like that you used 2 cameras and edited the video for both points of view. Here it would have taken lots of permits and paperwork to do that job. Nice Job!

here in Ont. Canada it can take up to a year or more to get a permit to put anything in the water or take anything out of the water or high water line with a machine, even if you are digging close to the high water line and a big rock rolls down into the water and the ministry sees or someone complains, you get a huge fine, you can do all he work you want in the water by hand not a problem, you can place rocks on a banl by hand, but if you so much as tuch the water tith a tire or bucket of a machine,, you could be bank rupped. yet the ministry can do what they want when they want, they dont need no permit or fishey report, they have spoiled more fish sponging grounds in the past 25 years then has been in the past 100 years by weather,, even if your land witch starts 6 feet up from the high water mark is washing away you cant do a thing with a machine until you have that permit..

Great video I did a job for a buddy with the same blocks, I used an 8ton kubota, on fairly dry, level area, don’t think I’d have done it on the slope and slickness you had to. Good job man

Hi. Kudos for showing that chain saw mishap. Those things don't take prisoners. Ok, the brake should have stopped the blade but defence in depth is always a good idea. What would you have done better next time? Reposition the trunk – was that possible? BobUK.

Enjoyed video and the music. Listening to ragtime while working on the water seems fitting.

    Hey Mike!
Some stellar operating talent right there, 2 thumbs up from here buddy!
Even the fork truck operator is pretty good with the hook procedure, a shame you had such lousy weather to contend with but, the finished product looked good in the heavy rain.
Thanx for filming this job and risking your camera equipment in the rain…
Work safe, stay warm, see ya on the next 1

Awesome video. I chair the skills USA Heavy Equipment event for NY and I set up a event where competitors had to hook a eyebolt and set blocks by themselves. I had a instructor asked me when would everyone ever be used that skill in the field. I told him I've had to do that several times thanks for giving me a great example of when this skill is necessary in the field.
