Amazing Water Homes – Lazy River

who doesn't love a lazy river it's the ultimate aquatic stress reliever but why go to a water park when you could have your very own lazy river resort hi I'm Eugene Lachman and I'm Angie Lachman and we have a lazy river resort in our backyard Angie and I both own a local pool company in the Dallas area we build service and repair residential and commercial pools I originally just wanted to build a pool just a normal pool easy maintenance low-key and that's where she came in I'm not normal I suggest a lazy river I thought I was loony how are we gonna do a lazy river we have such a limited amount of space he didn't think it was possible at first I didn't and then I started putting it in a CAD and started drawing it and started trying to figure out the engineering of you know how to make it work and finally we got to where it fit no kidding six months down we had a full design and everything planned out there's something about motion and water moving water that's really peaceful and relaxing and my favorite thank you for taking out a water park is a lazy river because it's just fun for me to sit there going circle designing a lazy river resort is one thing building it is quite another it took us three days to dig the pool you have the vision of the finished product in your head but you're not thinking it's gonna start with a giant gaping hole in the back ever it was the initial shock it looks like a meter hit the backyard a war zone and I would just stand in the upstairs window and look at this and think oh my god what have I done I mean really what have I done the pool is done it's time to fill it up 33,000 gallons of water you got to wait two or three days for the filled with the water hose huh I had a few friends in the fire industry that I borrowed a fire hose from and we might have plugged it into the fire hydrant um we later cleared that up with the city and paid for that water and took that but we filled in 40 42 minutes the entire pool in an hour we were swimming in the pool designing the perfect pool space is a delicate balance of art and engineering one major concern through this entire process I never built a lazy river what if it doesn't work mm-hmm I mean that was a huge concern but like anybody else I researched and it just came together there's 210 horsepower motors each pump moves about 30,000 gallons a minute so when they're both on the volume of river flowing down the river is about 60,000 gallons a minute of water that that's moving that feeling when you're going down the river I wanted it to be like you're just you're not in the suburb anymore you're you're in a Nile River somewhere it took me a while to figure out how am I gonna divide that to where I'm floating in my tube but you don't know there's a which way you don't know this which might have five people in it might have 20 people you don't know what's going on over there and I needed to separate that so we put the planners in there and that planner with the tallgrass you can't see the pool when you're going down the river so then when we had the planner we decided we really wanted the pool to come together at night so we put laminer x' in there it's like the cherry on top it's funny because it's so neat just in the daylight but then at night it comes to life so much more it has so much character with a lighting and and all of the extra amenities eugen tapped every bit of his knowledge and experience in designing the features of the mini resort typically when you put a grotto on a pool the water has to come over the front and land in the pool I've never had an opportunity to build it the water come off the back because there's never water behind the cave Velandia the water rained on all the rock yeah it's really pretty the river naturally made an area that we could put an island which there came the bridge I wanted something under that bridge so that is you're coming by you're nice and you're hot you kind of steam in from the Sun and then all sudden you get just cool down I like that and that's how the shower under the bridge came together if you like the pool just wait until you see the island you're almost secluded or a little bit isolated maybe a little romantic we can kind of close it all the way up and just have some nice quiet time inside there and enjoy it or you can open it but make it more family and just entertaining kind of stuff so that Island really gave us opportunity to put the hut and everything that it goes in you can close it in and be only in your hot tub or you can open it up and be in your hot tub and look out onto your pool and your river and and all of the landscaping the barstools in the water that's just just a little feature again we really built this thing for entertaining the outdoor kitchen came together nice when it's raining we can all sit out there it's got several bar stools the lighting the night lighting every night it does all the lighting comes up and so until we go to bed you can look out there and it's just really peaceful and inviting even though we're not using it we're still kind of getting a little something out of it so get to see it um and that that lighting we carried it everywhere we carried it in the fire table we carried it throughout the outdoor kitchen so no matter where you look out there at night it looks like it's just saying come and join me and it is it's it's very enjoyable Emily adds a good Sparkle absolutely absolutely it's safe to say the lachman's outdoor space has made them quite a hit with the neighbors we entertain a lot and I have always been a big party thrower and anytime in conversation I'm the first one to volunteer and we're also very family driven people we're all very close and they love to come over and enjoy the pool with us and we love to cook out and it's an all-day day and we just we hang out and have a good time together the other night we through get together and the guy came over goes man I've heard the bachelor pool for for almost a year now and he goes words it it's unbelievable we get that a lot that makes me happy that we're making somebody else happy just five being in our backyard cuz it it it is like they turn into little kids when you go around the river and then they're just so much fun sometimes we have to kick them out because they're here for stuff yeah I think kids enjoy the pool in so many different ways kids love to time off the cave they left and off the game but friends family and children aren't the only ones who enjoy the pool we have a Jack Russell Terrier he was eight and loves water loves to play in water loves to swim and so for him this pool is heaven you just hear a splash and that's Mason you did he decided just take a little lap around the river if he could he would he would swim all day every day yeah so what did this cost to build we ended up building a resort and that resort probably cost us and I never really truly put pen to paper and I might not want to but I'm somewhere in the neighborhood of about two hundred eighty thousand dollars invested in that backyard the funny thing is we would do it all over again the end of the day what does it really matter it's what we wanted we enjoy it if we get our money back great if we make something great if we loose I'm will just to cross that bridge when we get there right now we're just enjoying it you

What about the money you have to pay monthly in electricity bill for powering the motor and lighting of the pool, plus the maintenance. The cost it's much more than $280k!

What a nice couple, and so in sync with each other. Too, I like that, while they could have 'sat' on that money, they chose, instead, to have an adventure; the back-yard paradise! This couple is thrilled that they took this opportunity..I mean–you can just see it and hear it..Even their terrier is in a happy state of THRILLED.! Last, I also hear in their voices not one bit of pretentiousness, just two people who are happy and grateful for their success, and glad for the opportunity to share with family, friends and neighbors. They'd be great to know, even without their back-yard oases.♥

Swimming immediately after a pool is filled is not good. Plaster residue floats in the water which is hazardous to your health in addition need to chlorinate the pool at a safe level. I hope the guy was kidding. ?

Considering how awesome that is…$280,000 is not bad…now, he’s a pool contractor so, I suspect he didn’t pay retail…?…still, I expected that to be way more expensive…very well spent $280,000…

I have seen all of these Nifty boat and floating home designs you guys have come up with quite a few pretty neat designs however I have yet to see one for a submerged floating home that floats at a prescribed depth below the surface it's not floating on the surface but can be adjusted for several feet to several yards under the surface and is a stable platform and one that is not going to be affected too much by wave action or boat wave or wake influences I had one in mind it would have to be shaped like an air bubble coming up from below the surface or anything similar to a jellyfish would anybody want to do try to come up with something like that I'm not very good at computer-assisted design and mine I don't have a CID or a computer-assisted design program think about it catch you later
