2018 NASA Glenn University Student Design Challenge – Winner Announcement


[ Music ] Hi, I’m Dr. Janet Kavandi, director of the NASA
Glenn Research Center, in Cleveland Ohio,
and veteran astronaut. Thank you to everyone
who participated in this year’s NASA
Glenn University Student Design Challenge. I’m truly impressed by
all of the innovative and insightful designs submitted
by teams of college students from around the country. Your ideas show real vision, and
these are the kinds of solutions that NASA needs to help
solve future challenges. After careful consideration, NASA Glenn chose the following
2nd and 1st place teams for this year’s challenge: The team awarded 2nd place for the 2018 NASA Glenn
University Student Design Space Challenge is Eastern Michigan University for Bio-Inspired In-Situ
Water Extraction on Mars. And the 1st place winning team for the 2018 NASA Glenn
University Student Design Space Challenge is The Ohio State University
for Development of Autonomous Electrostatic
Precipitation Regolith Collection System
for Mars Exploration. The team awarded 2nd place for the 2018 NASA Glenn
University Student Design Aeronautics Challenge is North Carolina Agricultural
and Technical State University for NC A&T’s Model K. And
the 1st place winning team for the 2018 NASA Glenn
University Student Design Aeronautics Challenge is Purdue University for
Purdue’s Flying Car and Futuristic City Design. Once again, congratulations
to this year’s winners, and thank you to
everyone who participated. We hope you’ll join us again
